Whilst the club 10's are not at the top end of the sport, we still have to run these events in accordance with CTT regulations. Therefore riders are required to ride in accordance with these regulations.

(The following is the background to the above. Over the last two weeks I have been made aware known riders - but for now I will withhold names - who are drafting. No only one another but other riders. Some people are not happy and I have said I will monitor the situation). Thanks Nick.

THIS IS CHEATING SO DON’T DO IT!

For insurance purposes anyone intending to ride to Club 10 on a Thursday evening MUST be a paid up member of either Swindon RC, Corinium CC or another affiliated CTT club.

April 2010

For any successful club to run, it needs its members to get involved
with helping out occasionally. So far this time trial season for
various reason's a number of people have failed to turn up for their
marshalling duties. This has put pressure on others to help out on the
evening!

The marshalling rota is published on the web site (an updated copy is
available) and the guidelines are the same as before.

Cheers Nick

January 18th 2009  - Luke wins at Reading

Swindon Road Club's Luke Cowley took his first win at Ashenbury Park, Reading on Saturday, while team-mate Claire Smith took the overall Wessex League title.

Ashenbury Park saw the final round of the Wessex Cyclocross League, with good results for Swindon riders on a course with fast paths, open grass, woodland trails and hills.

Swindon RC's Luke Cowley took an impressive win in the Youth race, riding away from the rest of the field from the start. Despite his lead coming down to around ten seconds on the second lap, he upped his effort and made sure of his first victory. In only his first season, he finishes in third place overall in the Wessex League. Kerrie Hutchinson and Isaac Staff also competed for Swindon RC.

In the Under 12 race, Swindon RC fielded ten of the 30 competitors, Tom Sewell finishing fourth. In a clean sweep of the podium in the Under 12 Girls, Zoe Sheeran, Katie Compton and Susannah Moore came in first, second and third for Swindon RC.

Claire Smith and Andrea Halman finished first and second in the Senior Women's event, Smith taking the overall Wessex League win.

Swindon RC's success in the Wessex League is due in part to recent lottery funding; equipment and coaching made available to younger riders is being translated into increased participation and results.

August 4th

The club normally has a Summer BBQ at Richard’s place around now but with that very nice facility now “gone” Dave Gibson has booked a BBQ, the Back Garden and Back Room at the Thanes Head Pub (the one we use for the Sunday Crew Christmas Bash) that’s just the other side of Kemble for Sunday the 17th August.

It will be a 12:30 hours start with three ways to get to the pub:-

1. Leave at 09:00 hours from the Town Hall as usual to do the normal Sunday Ride and get to the Thames Head just after midday

2. Leave at 11:00 hours from the Foresters Pub and ride direct to the Thames Head – it’s about the same distance as riding to Greasy Joes.

3. Come out in any other form of transport at your leisure.

We have just the hire of the BBQ, Garden and Room so you have to bring along the stuff you want cooked, there will be essential things such as rolls, salad and a few other bits and pieces provided. Vast quantities of alcoholic drinks can be purchased from the Bar.

The Thames Head Inn is located on Tetbury - Cirencester road Cirencester end, they also have a web site

http://www.thamesheadinn.co.uk

We can have use of there function room if the weather is against us also.
