·         Sunday 6th – Warwick Cycle Races ( Criterium ) Start time 11am, Entry £3.00 / £5.50

·         Wednesday’s: Mountbatten Centre Portsmouth – 2nd & 9th Start Time 6.15pm, Entry £4.00

·         Sunday  13th – Thuxton, National Youth Series – start time 12.45pm, Entry £5.00 (£8.00 on  the day )

My name is Susannah Moore from Tregoze Primary School

 

 

I have been able to ride my bike for years but had never ridden competitively; I only started this year when I meet Andy Smith for Swindon Road Club (SRC) at Tregoze Primary School. He was giving a presentation to the year 5 pupils at school and that really got me interested, especially when I heard that a cycling club was going to take place at our school every Saturday afternoon during term 6. At the club we started by going around the playground learning basic handling skills that will help us in races, then we started to go on the sports field as well. It really started to get exciting when we went up to Lydiard Park to train, there are many types of surfaces there (smooth pathway, bumpy woodland paths and acres of green fields) we rode on almost every type of ground. As the first cycle cross race of the season was at Lydiard Park in September I thought I might as well have a go on my bike that is nothing special. After that race I did 5 more races on a loaned bike from the club and finished 4th in the under 12 girl in the Wessex league and 2nd under 12 girl from Swindon RC. I am now training to do time trails and closed circuit racings at Castle Coombe.
