WTTA Final Standings - Category Wins and Podiums!

The 2011 Western Time Trial Association hardriders series has now concluded. It was great to see Swindon competing again as a team this year, largely due to the encouragement of Chris Broad-Drake.

Four SRC members completed the minimum 6 counting events (from 13 across the CTT West District). Pete Garnett finished 9th overall with 669 points from a possible maximum of 720; this tally included 3 events where he finished in the top 5. Chris Lowe finished in 16th place with 627 points; Paul O’Driscoll 17th with 625 points; and, 21st Chris Broad-Drake won 586 points. The overall winner was Rob Pears (Bath CC), recording a maximum points score of 720.

In the separate award categories the SRC team of Garnett, Lowe and O’Driscoll finished 2nd to the runaway victors Bath CC. Lowe won the 50+ veterans category with Broad-Drake in 3rd place despite, in his own words, suffering a poor season. In the 40+ category Garnett finished 4th and O’Driscoll 10th.

We intend to compete again in the 2012 series and would encourage others members to do the same. These are mainly local time trials over non-standard distances ranging from a hillclimb of Burrington Combe to a 29 mile hilly around Malmesbury. The 13 events in the series are spread across the season and further details can be found at:
