Info & Map Handicap Competition Marshalling Duties
| Thursday 25th August |
The last event of the season was held on a cool and breezy evening with no PB's being set. Rob Foskett did just enough with his ride this evening to equal Adrian Smith's score in the season long handicap competition. Well done to Rob and Adrian on winning the competition this year which reflects how much these two riders have improved during the season.

The penultimate race of the season was held on a warm but wet evening where the light faded quite early on. However, we had 56 people sign on and 54 starters of which 21 were SRC members. We had several PB's again tonight the most notable of which was Graham Messer finally dipping under 23 minutes. There has now been a sort out at the top of the points table after Adrian Smith put in a sterling ride to reduce his PB by 18 seconds and gain near maximum points which has put him back on top of the leader board by four points. It is unlikely that anyone will remove him from the top slot, this will only be achieved by a rider willing to give everything and reduce his PB by at least 30 seconds.

"A very windy night with nearly everybody a bit slower than normal.

Tonights TT saw a turn out of 40+ riders of which 17 were Swindon RC members. The weather was warm and dry but with a stiff headwind on the 2nd & 4th legs. Jeff Smith rode a very respectable time of 38.52 considering he wason his mountain bike and towing his son, Christian, behind him. We also have a leader in the tandem field now with the only entry so far this season of John & Chrissy Smith who set a very good time of 24.25. We had one PB this week which was very good considering the wind.

Thursday night saw the annual interclub event between Swindon
RC & Corinium CC. The fine weather brought out a huge amount of riders with 53 in
total of which 26 were SRC members. The weather was conducive to PB's with a crop of them
being produced and Trevor Wherwood once agian lowering his PB to 22.30 mins. The other new
'star' rider has to be RobFoskett who has got under 23 mins on a few occasions now.
The Interclub was won by Swindon RC, however, I don't know how many points by. Suffice it
to say it wasn't close, we gave them an early Christmas present, a right stuffing!

Tonights '10' was attended by 44 riders of which 19 were SRC members. The weather was dry and warm with a reasonable crosswind to make life difficult for most riders. We had several PB's tonight, the most notable of which was Joe Schvartz who is in amazing form at the moment. Things are getting very tight at the top of the points series with Adrian Smith holding on to his lead by only one point from Joe Schvartz.

Tonights club 10 was run off in warm but windy conditions. We had 28 riders in total with 12 of these being SRC members. I had a surfeit of marshals tonight with a full compliment at both roundabouts. Thanks to all who turned out to marshal and a very special thanks to Margaret & Phil Paton for timekeeping.
Graham Messer is organising the club 10 on the 2 June as I shall be in the Pyrenees. Please give him as much support as possible.

The weather was overcast and mild with a slight cross/tailwind on the outward legs of the course. Some new club members who rode tonight, Niel Dunnage & Roger Bryan. We also had two new course PB's from Adrian Smith & Andy Smith (not related). A total of 35 riders mostly made up of Swindon RC & Corinium CC with just 3 guest riders. However one of the guest riders from Tooting BC, Kevin Bexley, recorded a very good time of 22.34 beating Corinium rider Jason Costello by 9 seconds.

The weather tonight was about as perfect as you can get for time trialling
as was proved by the large turnout. We had 45 starters from several
clubs including Cheltenham & County, Angliasport, Evans Cycles & Swindon Wheelers
as well as Corinium who share the burden of promoting this event every two weeks. It was
warm without being too hot or cold and absolutely still. Several PB's were achieved again
this week, as well as some new riders, both to the club and the course.
The only times not included in the points series or weekly positions list are for the 4
man team of Bryan Telford, James Carrington, Paul Gregg &
Andy Duff, who as a team did a very respectable ride of 23.15.

The weather was cold but dry with a slight crosswind, this made for almost
ideal conditions for riders to do good times as was proved by four
riders getting course PB's. There were 29 starters of which 15 were SRC members. Andy Duff
was unfortunate to puncture and was therefore a DNF.
Special congratulations must go to Daniel Higgs on an excellent performance this eveing.
Daniel has improved tremendously since last season and can be proud of a great PB
this evening and the added satisfaction of beating all of the senior club members as well.
The season is only just getting under way so no doubt Daniel will be aiming to
improve still further this season and get under the 24 minute barrier on the club 10
course.

From Chris Broad-Drake ;
"Before I give you the results I would just like to express how disappointed I was
tonight as none of my marshals turned up or arranged for other
people to take their place, therefore I am taking the decision to exclude them from the
points series. On a more positive note we had one new member join tonight, Simon Cowdery,
and one ex member rejoin, Steve Davies. Bryan, I have got Simon's e-mail address however,
I left it at the HQ tonight and it is currently with Allan Norwood.
On to the actual event, the weather although nasty during the day it eased somewhat in the
hour before the event with just a couple of brief
squalls. During the event the wind dropped to nothing and the rain held off however,
this was tempered by a drop in temperature. 20 brave men faced the course with a 50/50
split between Corinium and SRC riders. The points and positions are on the attached
spreadsheet."

The first TT of the season got off to a good start with 32 riders starting
of which 20 were SRC members, however, Rob Foskett was a DNF.
The evening was dry cool and wind free, again however, many riders complained that the air
was 'heavy' or dense which made for slow times.
We had one person get a new PB from last seson.
